"Five star rating. This bag ranked at the top in comfort, warmth and warmth/weight" _Rock and Ice Gear guide 2008. "the Rockies bag kept me warm all the way to the 17k (5200m) camp in spite of overnight temps approaching -30 C" Raphael Slawinski, Spring 2005 Alaska trip "Most of the bags on the market are too small for my build but the XPD fits perfectly. It is true that a wider bag is a little bit heavier but if you constantly wake up because of cold compression spots around your knees, your bum, and your elbows you don't care about saving a few ounces." XPD1-Rockies Series

0F / -20C (7" loft). The Rockies Series is the bag of choice for most mountain trips in the Americas and Europe. Superb comfort and loft make this bag ideal for winter trips, yet it is still light and compact enough to ensure that you don't have to haul a huge pack. It is the bag of choice for several Everest guides who believe that weight is everything.

Product Review:

5 star rating "Integral Designs is probably the best kept secret in the lower 48. This bag ranked at the top in comfort, warmth and warmth / weight. The bags are exquisitely made. Each piece of fabric is cut with a hot knife. Hot cutting seals the edges of the fabric and prevents fraying for life. The 0F (-20C) rating is conservative. Every tester gave it a rating of -10F (-30C) or colder. The bag comes with a choice of widths, relaxed or broad. The relaxed cut is a classic 62-inch shoulder, while the broad cut at 67 inches wide will accommodate a football lineman. We tested the broad model. Relaxed or broad, the foot dimensions are a comfortable 45 inches. When you lie on your back, your feet will not press through the differential cut and compress the insulation. Integral Designs allows the down to be shifted from top to bottom, giving all of its bags a wide temperature range, A removable down collar adds to its versatility. The XPD-1 in broad cut offers enough space for you to wear a down suit in the bag. Indeed, three testers said they would take this bag to the Himalaya. This is another excellent choice for one sleeping bag that can go from summer in the Rockies to the big peaks. PROS: Old-world craftsmanship. Wide temperature range. Choice of relaxed or broad fit and choice of Pertex Microlight or Endurance shell. Best foot section. Good warmth/weight ratio. Space inside for water bottles, boots etc. CONS: Integral Designs offers a fully hooded vapor-barrier liner (VBL), but there are no ties inside the bag to lock the VBL in place. Trying to shift down from bottom to top or vice versa is difficult in a cramped tent or snow cave. The roomy bag has lots of dead air to haet up, especially for a slim climber. Expensive." Larry Amkraut, 2008 Rock and Ice Gear Guide "Thank you very much for supporting my recent expedition to Kyrgyzstan. The XPD 1 sleeping bag was like sleeping in an oven. My partner ended up dubbing it "Big Red" because its lofty size would almost suffocate him while he was sleeping beside me in the MK 1" - Sean Isaac (October 2001)
